Tourism authorities in the Dominican Republic are to invest nearly 25 million dollars on the country’s beaches to ensure they are of excellent standards for tourists.

The project includes pouring 1.4 million cubic metres of sand and the demolition of some buildings that damage the coastal environment.

The Dominican Republic is celebrated as having some of the best beaches in the world. From surfer beaches in the north, to luxurious beaches in the east, to family beaches near Santo Domingo and the untouched beauty of Bahoruco in the west, the Dominican Republic has something for everyone.

Located near the capital city of Santo Domingo, the beaches of Boca Chica and Juan Dolio are perfect for children because there are no waves or deep waters. The amazing snorkelling opportunities give families the chance to explore together, and 14 percent of the world’s coral reefs reside within these lagoons and around the DR coastal areas.

DSR has property just five minutes walk from Boca Chica beach, and within walking distance of numerous bars, restaurants, a casino, a exclusive yacht club, two 18 hole golf courses, a marina and other spectacular beaches.

In the North, Playa Cabarete is one of the best water sport beaches in the Caribbean and has been host to the National Kiteboarding Championships since 2001. The Bay of Cabarete was formed by a barrier coral reef and is a popular destination for divers as well as surfers. DSR have property nestled away in the hillside but just 1-10 minutes from Cabarete Bay, Kite Beach, Sousa Beach and amenities. Prices start from £30,000.

In the east, the Oasis development is situated on the beautiful beach of Camino Del Sol. Located in a tropical island paradise, its ocean beach is all sand, gradually sloping for great Atlantic boogie boarding and body surfing. The Yasica river is a short 20 minute walk where you will find the Boca Grill and kite boarders enjoying calmer lagoon surfing. To the West is a beautiful 3 KM walk to Cabarete.

The development is an enclosed community with private entrance and 24 hour security surrounded by miles of deserted beaches. Inside, winding paths take you through lush landscape to natural waterfalls and two pools, Jacuzzi, fountains, restaurant, bar, surf shop, sun deck or private beach. Prices start at £67,000.
